5 Fun Golfer facts about Nick Taylor and his win at the Sony Open in Hawaii

Nick Taylor’s Epic Eagle and Perfect Pitch Secure Dramatic Playoff Win at Sony Open

Nick Taylor from Canada sure knows how to put on a show! On Sunday, he delivered an incredible finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii, chipping in for an eagle on the 18th hole that got him into a playoff. And then, he nailed a fantastic pitch to set up a birdie and take down Nico Echavarria!  For a while, it looked like Taylor had played his way out of a chance at contention at the Waialae Country Club by missing a couple of much needed short birdie opportunities near the end, but everything changed in an instant when he made that epic 60-foot eagle chip on the par-5 closing hole, finishing with a solid 5-under 65.  Not to be outdone, Echavarria delivered by making a great bunker shot for a tap-in birdie on the 18th, also finishing with a 65. They both ended at an impressive 16-under 264!  Back to the 18th hole for the playoff they went, Taylor navigated his way from a fairway bunker and landed a super close 46 yards short of the hole. His pitch was nearly flawless, landing on the front of the green and rolling perfectly to come to a stop just inside 3 feet. What a finish!
