Feb 9/2025 - THOMAS DETRY made history in style at the 2025 WM Phoenix Open, securing his first PGA TOUR win and becoming the first Belgian to do so. And he didn’t just win—he dominated! DETRY cruised to a seven-shot victory, shooting a final-round 65 to finish at 24-under 260. When the pressure was on, DETRY delivered. He birdied four of his last five holes, nearly acing the iconic 16th hole before closing with back-to-back birdies on 17 and 18. While JORDAN SPIETH and DANIEL BERGER made their moves, DETRY never flinched. He started the final round with an 18-under score and a five-shot lead, playing smart, steady golf to keep challengers in check and secure the memorable win.
This was DETRY's 1st PGA Tour Victory in only his 68th start at the age of 32 years, 27 days
As mentioned above, but worth saying again, DETRY becomes the FIRST player from Belgium to win on the PGA Tour
He becomes the 14th first-time winner at the Phoenix Open - the last player to get his first win here? SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER back in 2022
PGA Tour rookie WILL CHANDLER, who earned a spot (only his 3rd start) in the tournament through the Open Qualifier, showed he deserved to be there with a T6 finish and a score of -15
DETRY's 7 stroke win wasn't even the the largest win gap at the WM PHOENIX OPEN. It wasn't even the second largest. It tied for the 5th largest win gap. The largest? 14 shot margin by JOHNNY MILLER at the 1975 edition
