9 Fun Golfer Facts about SCOTTIE SHEFFLER and his win at The 2025 Memorial Tournament

Scottie Scheffler - Clinical!

Jun 1, 2025 - SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER made the 2025 Memorial Tournament look like a masterclass in steady, surgical golf. While others were battling the brutal, U.S. Open-like setup of Muirfield Village, SCHEFFLER calmly navigated the course with machine-like precision with hardly a hiccup. In fact, he made just one bogey all week. One!

Holding the 54-hole lead (as he’s now done nine times without ever losing it), SCHEFFLER closed with a composed 2-under 70 to finish at 8-under and grab his 16th career PGA Tour title—and his third win in four starts. That stretch also includes a PGA Championship title, and his lone “miss” was a T-4. Not bad for a guy who isn’t exactly flashy—he’s just relentlessly effective.

Sunday got briefly tense when BEN GRIFFIN trimmed the lead to one after SCHEFFLER'S bogey on 10. But just like a champ, SCHEFFLER birdied 11 while GRIFFIN missed key birdie chances and stumbled late with a double on 17, ending his charge.

The win made SCHEFFLER the first back-to-back Memorial winner since TIGER WOODS, and JACK NICKLAUS himself even gave props, saying Scheffler’s strategic game reminded him of... well, JACK NICKLAUS.

Oh, and shoutout to RICKIE FOWLER, whose T-7 finish earned him a British Open exemption. Legend move.

SCHEFFLER now leads the FedExCup by a mile, and unless he suddenly forgets how to play golf, he’s going to be very hard to catch.

  • We mentioned above FOWLER and his sponsors exemption earning a spot in the British Open, but fellow exemption golfer BRANDT SNEDEKER and his low round of the day and T7 finish with FOWLER lost the tie breaker for the OPEN spot because FOWLER was higher ranked in the Official World Golf Ranking

  • SCHEFFLER Sits in 4th spot for the shortest span between 1st and 16th PGA wins, doing it in 3 years, 3 months and 19 days; the top 3 - SAM SNEAD, JACK NICKLAUS and TIGER WOODS.  That would be a fun foursome to watch
