Letâs get one thing out of the way: the adidas Adizero ZG Spikeless golf shoes are not just âbackââtheyâre back better than ever. After an earlier stint in 2013 that saw the Adizero name briefly flash across the golf world (and, unfortunately, across some putting surfaces a bit too aggressively), adidas has rebooted this line with purpose in 2025. What we get now is a lightweight, waterproof, ultra-comfortable, and surprisingly stable spikeless shoe that just might be the best in its class.
The upper is crafted from Sprintskin, a multi-layer synthetic material thatâs not only waterproof but also easy to clean. Visually, the silhouette borrows from the adidas ZG23 but with sleeker styling and a more refined finish. The Lightstrike and Lightstrike Pro foam cushioning duoâborrowed from adidasâ high-performance running shoesâdelivers an airy, responsive ride, while the Insite 2.0 sockliner and moulded heel pad ensure a snug, dialed-in fit. The big talking point, though, is the SPIKEMORE outsole, a new multi-directional, undercut lug system that aims to mimic (and in some cases nearly rival) the traction of traditional spiked shoes.
If youâre looking for a spikeless shoe that can take on everything from dry to rainy to slushy conditionsâwithout slipping, rubbing, or weighing you downâthe Adizero ZG should be on your radar.
Out of the box, the Adizero ZG feels premium and purpose-built, though the design is more function-forward than flashy. They donât photograph quite as bold as, say, the Tour360 or Codechaos, but the red colorway does pop nicely. The look says, "I'm here to win holes, not runway awards."
Donât expect head turns unless you go bold with your color pick. That said, golf buddies and playing partners who care about tech and performance will ask you about them after you stripe a drive while staying fully planted. Not a high-fashion shoeâbut definitely an intriguing one for gearheads.
She didnât notice them. On the bright side, if she did, she might think youâre a serious golfer. When I asked her to rate them, she 'middle of the road'ed me with her 2.5 rating.
Absolutely. Whether they ride or walk, these shoes tick every major box: lightweight, stable, all-weather ready, and incredibly comfortable. If youâre a mid- to low-handicapper, itâs a no-brainer. Higher handicaps? Still worth it if youâre willing to invest.
Ventilation is solid, and the waterproof Sprintskin doesnât suffocate your feet. After a solid round on an average day, no noticeable sweating or overheating. Youâll stay dry in the wet and cool in the heat.
This is where the Adizero ZG dominates. The SPIKEMORE outsole is almost unnervingly grippyâespecially in dry conditions. Even in the rain, I feel there would be minimal slippage. On uneven terrain, the cone-shaped lugs dig in where needed, keeping you balanced and powerful through every swing.
Thereâs virtually no break-in period. Out of the box, they feel plush and secure. Heel slippage might occur if you donât lace up to the top eyelets, but once dialed in, itâs smooth sailing.
Heavy on substance, light on flash. These shoes are performance-driven in every aspect, from grip to cushioning to support. Theyâre not going to win âmost stylishâ in a locker room contest, but theyâll win on the scorecard. Itâs a tech-first vibe with just enough style to pass.
Absolutely. In fact, theyâve become my go-to shoe for any round where Iâm walking. The comfort-to-performance ratio is off the charts. Plus, I love not having to worry about slipping when the weather turns on me mid-round.  If youâre looking for a golf shoe that doesnât just talk the talk but walks the (18-hole) walkârain or shine, power swing or finesse chipâthe adidas Adizero ZG Spikeless is a genuine contender for best spikeless golf shoe of the year
